Volume Expansion & Backup
When running out of storage capacity on the Synology 2U RackStation, Synology RX1217/RX1217RP provides an easy way to immediately scale capacity by additional 12 drives. The RAID volume on the Synology RackStation can be expanded directly without having to reformat the existing drives, ensuring the Synology RackStation continues its service during the capacity expansion.
Synology RX1217/RX1217RP can be used as a dedicated local backup solution for the Synology RackStation. When created as a separate volume, RX1217/RX1217RP provides a great backup solution to its local drives in case of system failure.
Reliable Plug-n-use Design
Synology 2U RackStation securely connects to RX1217/RX1217RP with a high bandwidth expansion cable that ensures maximum throughput. It allows the drives in the connected RX1217/RX1217RP to operate as they are the internal ones of the Synology RackStation, with no lag in data retrieval. To ensures 24/7 service uptime, Synology RX1217RP is equipped with redundant power supply units, allowing automatic fail-over support if one of the PSUs is failed.
Green & Easy to Manage
Deep Sleep can be manually configured to take effect automatically when the system has been inactive for a period of time. This not only saves energy but also extends the lifespan of the drives. RX1217/RX1217RP also powers on/off with the attached RackStation, so no user intervention is needed to keep the system running smartly and efficiently.
